Welcome to Jasmin's Portfolio! This site will give you a peek into my journey of cosmetology school. As I finish my senior year, I'm happy to be graduating along side my fellow classmates and rejoice in knowing that all the hard work we put in has given us growth. My goal is to continue to flourish as a professional and unlock new levels of creativity within myself. I hope this project will bring a smile to your face as much as it has brought one to mine.
Selection of Services
90 Degree Haircut
Our client came in requesting a 90 degree haircut. She had previously had a perm and felt her hair had grown too long to see her curls. The client first received a shampoo with Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo and after I used all Redken All Soft Conditioner. All In 25 was used as a cutting aid and after the cut the hair air dried for finished look.
Men’s Clipper/Shear Cut
Our Client Daniel came in for a clipper/shear combination cut. He requested the 1 guard (open) for the sides and the back. Shears were used to blend the hair. Client was then shampooed, dried and styled with pomade.
Short Hair Volume Blowdry
Kaylee wanted a shampoo and blowdry. Hair was shampooed using Redken Frizz Dismiss and Diamond Oil Shampoo and after Color extend conditioner. Before styling, All In 25 was added along with Frizz Dismiss serum and Safe Play 450. Wax blast was added for finished look. After the service, she advised that she usually doesn’t like her hair when its blowdried but she does now. She had since then requested for me to do her hair again!
Medium Length Volume Blowdry
Lydia also received a shampoo and blowdry. For the shampoo service, Frizz dismiss and Diamond oil shampoo and All Soft conditioner was used. After the shampoo All in 25 and frizz dismiss serum was added. Hair was blowdried and wax blast was used for final look.
Long Hair Volume Blowdry
This was my first time catering to the lovely Rosemary. She received a shampoo service with Redken Color Extend shampoo and conditioner. Safe Play 450 was added before blowdrying. Wax blast was added for finished look.
Blowdry Straight With Marcel
For Hannah’s first day of class, she received a shampoo, blowdry and was finished with lovely marcel curls. Her hair was shampooed and conditioned with Color Extend. Frizz dismiss was added before blowdrying. Wax blast was used before curling the hair. No comb/brush out for this finished look.
Long Hair Blowdry Straight With Marcel Curls
My most loyal client Teresa also received a shampoo, blowdry and marcel curl. Products used in her shampoo service were Color Extend shampoo and All soft conditioner. Safe play 450 and frizz dismiss was used before blowdrying. After curling with the marcel and allowing curls to cool while clipped, products used included Working 12 and wax blast. Curls were then unclipped and brushed them out with a paddle brush for finished look.
Blowdry Straight with Marcel Curls
Jasmine requested some curls. She first received a shampoo service using Color extend shampoo and conditioner. All in 25, Safe Play 450 and Frizz dismiss was used before blowdrying. After marcel curls were clipped and cooled, I used wax blast and a wide tooth comb for the finished look.
Styled with a Flat Iron
Teresa requested a quick flat iron style. Her hair had been previously in braids and had crinkles. I used Frizz Dismiss before flat ironing and wax blast for polished look.
Silk Press
I have now also had the privilege of catering to Zion for the first time. She requested her hair to be flat ironed. She received a shampoo service with Mizani Press Agent Thermal shampoo and conditioner. Afterwards, Mizani Thermasmooth Shine, Heat Screen and 25 Miracle Milk was used before blowdrying. A little more heat screen was used before fat ironing. After the hair was straight, client requested that her ends be cut and to follow her natural layers.
Demipermanent Color with Clipper Cut
My beautiful wife Princess loves to let me experiment on her hair. She always loves fun new colors and designs. After testing out Pulpriot FlyTrap on a mannequin, she then requested the same color. Hair was shampooed using Mizani Butter Blend Neutralizing and Chelating shampoo. After quick drying the hair I then cut the hair using a combination of the 1 and 2 guards. Hair was then brushed with Jamaican Lime oil with water and her durag and stocking cap was put on to dry. After hair was completely dry I used the trimmer to clean up the perimeter.
Highlights
Our client came in for a highlight retouch. After the consultation, it was determined that the client preferred a chunky highlight. The highlighting powder was mixed with 10, 20 & 30 volume depending on the section of the head (the lowest at the bottom and highest at the top). After application, hair processed for 40mins. Hair was shampooed using Color Extend. Ends were then trimmed and Shades EQ 010N was added for toning. After Rinsed, Hair was then blowdried for finished look. Other products used include All In 25 and Frizz Dismiss.
Gray Coverage
Client visited the class salon for a color retouch for grays. Client’s hair had been previously colored using Cover Fusion 8NN. Unfortunately this visit we did not have the exact product, but luckily had both 9NN and 7NN. Equal parts of both colors mixed with 20vol developer was applied to the client’s hair. After application, hair processed for 50mins. Hair was shampooed and conditioned with Color extend. Client requested a rough dry for finished look.
Demipermanent Color
Jasmine had previously lightened hair and desired to go back dark. Hair was wet to be able to distribute product evenly. Shades EQ 01B and 02M were mixed equally and added to Processing Solution in an applicator bottle. After application, hair processed for 20mins and then shampooed and conditioned using Color Extend. All In 25 and Frizz Dismiss was added and hair was blowdried for finished look.
Loc Retwist and Style
Client came in for a loc retwist and a simple style. Clients hair was shampooed with Diamond Oil Shampoo and Conditioned with All Soft. Diamond oil was added to hair for shine and moisture and as a twisting aid. Hair was retwisted using the comb method. Two locs were then rope twisted together and a rubberband was added to the ends for finished look.
90 Degree Haircut
Lydia requested her 90 degree haircut be freshened up. Hair was shampooed and conditioned with Color Extend. Hair was cut at a 90 degree angle and cut with shears using All In 25 as a cutting aid. The perimeter was also cut blunt. After the cut Frizz Dismiss was added and hair was blowdried for finished look. Fashion Work 12 was used for fly aways.
Gloss
Huda wanted to add shine to her hair but not color. Hair was shampooed with Color Extend. Shades EQ Crystal Clear was added with processing solution in an applicator bottle. After application, hair processed for 20mins and was then rinsed. Frizz dismiss was added and hair was blowdried for finished look.
Demipermanent Color with Blunt Cut
Camille wanted to go darker. She had previously used box dye to make her hair darker and the color was fading. Hair was shampooed using Color Extend. Hair was cut blunt using shears and All In 25 as a cutting aid. Shades EQ 02ABn was added to processing solution in an applicator bottle then added to hair. After application, hair processed for 20mins and then rinsed. Frizz dismiss was then added and hair was blowdried straight for finished look.
90 Degree Haircut with Face Framing and Demipermanent Color
Sophia advised during her client consultation that she had previously had layers but they were cut unevenly. She also expressed the desire to have face framing and to also make hair slightly darker. Hair was shampooed using Color Extend. All In 25 was used as a cutting aid and hair was held at 90 degrees and cut using shears. Shades EQ 05NW was added to processing solution in an applicator bottle and added to the hair. After application, hair processed for 20mins and was then rinsed. Hair was styled by another student for finished look.
Demipermanent Color on Curly/Coily Hair
Zion was another classmate that requested to go darker. Her hair was shampooed using Color Extend. Shades EQ 02ABn was added to processing solution and added to hair. After application, hair processed for 20mins and then rinsed. Other products used include Mizani 25 and Frizz Dismiss.
Hair Lightening With Clipper Cut
Princess was ready for a new cut and color. Hair was first lightened using lightening powder mixed with 20vol. Product was applied to hair using the brush and bowl method. Lightener was applied to the new growth first and then pulled to the ends to rid of the green. Hair Processed for 35mins and was then shampooed and conditioned using Color Extend. Hair was then cut using clippers with 2 guard at the top and a 1 guard on the bottom. She wanted her sideburns to be faded and also the nape area. Oil was added to her hair and hair was brushed using a boar bristle brush and a durag was put on for the waves. Hair was then dried with durag on for finished look.
Demipermanent Color with Blunt Cut
Marissa wanted to rid some of the yellow tones in her hair and she also wanted a trim. Hair was shampooed using Blondage and Color extend. Shades EQ 010N and 010VG was added with processing solution in an applicator bottle. After 20mins processing, hair was then rinsed and ends were trimmed. Frizz dismiss was added and hair was blowdried for finished look.
90 Degree Haircut with Face Framing
Heather was looking for something new. She wanted some layers with face framing and was also deciding on a new color. I used a Spray bottle with water to wet hair and All In 25 as a cutting aid. Hair was held at a 90 degree angle and cut with shears. Hair was colored and styled by Lydia for finished look.
180 Degree Haircut with Face Framing
Brielle also requested layers and face framing. Her hair was previously cut at 90 degrees, this time it was determined that 180 degrees would be better. Hair was shampooed and conditioned using Color Extend and All In 25 was used as a cutting aid. Hair was held at 180 degrees and cut using shears. Hair was styled by Lydia for finished look.

Men’s Clipper Cut
I finally got my dad in my portfolio! For this Haircut I used a combination of 2 and 1 guard for the clippers. I used the nippers to clean the hair line. I used the clipper over comb method to clean up the beard.
180 Degree Haircut with Fringe and Demipermanent Color
Emily requested layers with a thinner bang and she also wanted to make her hair slightly darker. Her hair was cut in a 180 degree angle using shears and All in 25 as a cutting aid. Shades EQ 05CB was combined with equal parts of processing solution and applied to the hair (processed for 20mins). Hair was then shampooed and conditioned with Redkin Color extend. Hair was then blowdried for finished look. Other products used include Frizz dismiss and Working 12 Hairspray.
Loc Lightening & Demipermanent Color
Kallie wanted a half and half look with blonde and brown. Her locs were first lightened (lightening powder mixed with 10 & 20 vol developer) to about a level 9. After shampooing, Shades EQ 010N (back) and (06N) was added to the front (processed 20mins). After hair was rinsed I noticed that the brown had a green tint to it. To color correct, I added 07CB (red/orange undertone) to the front and allowed to process for 20 more minutes. Hair was then shampooed and conditioned using Color extend. Other products used include Diamond Oil.
Highlights, Haircut & Blowdry
Ms. Nada wanted highlights, a bang, face framing, and a layered haircut that would take some poof from her hair. Her hair was cut dry at a 180 degree first, then blended down to the lower layers at about a 135 degree angle. For the lower layers I used slide cutting technique. Partial highlights were then created using lighting powder combined with 20 and 30 volume developers using both slicing and weaving techniques (processed for 40 mins). After shampooing hair was then toned with Shades EQ 07N (2 oz) combined with 2 oz of processing solution (processed for 20mins). Hair was then shampooed and conditioned using Redkin Color Extend. Haircut was then checked while wet and corrected in areas needed and then blowdried with volume for finished look. Other products used include Frizz dismiss and Satinwear 04.
Clipper Cut and Loc Updo
My mom wanted her hair faded and also an updo for the weekend. Her hair was cut with clippers and a combination of 1 and no guard. Hair was then braided upward into a bun and I added a swoop to the front. Hair pins were used for the style.
Clipper Cut & Coil Twists
Josh wanted Coil twist and a haircut. Unfortunately my before pictures are post haircut but I used a 1 guard and the nippers for the hairline and beard. Hair was shampooed with Mizani True Textures and oil was added to the wet hair to help create the coils using a comb.
Layers with Face Framing
Veronica wanted layers with Faceframing. Her hair was first shampooed and then cut at a 180 degree angle and then blended to the bottom using slide cutting. Hair was then blowdried for finished look. Other products used included All in 25 and Satinwear 04.
Demipermanent Color & Blowdry
This lovely lady is one of the nail students. She wanted to make her hair darker and she wanted a blow out. Shades EQ 04ABn (1 oz) and 02ABn (1oz) was combined with 2 oz of processing solution to an applicator bottle and applied to the hair. After 20 minute processing, hair was then shampooed and conditioned using Redkin color extend and blowdried for finished look. Other products used included Frizz dismiss and All in 25.
Loc Retwist & Style
Kallie requested a retwist with a style that she could wear to the gym. Her hair was shampooed using Redkin Color extend and retiwsted using the comb method and oil. Hair was then two strand twisted and secured with rubberbands for the finished look.
Men’s Clipper Cut
For this haircut I used a combination of a 3, 2, and 1 guard with the clippers. I used no guard to fade the bottom and his sideburns. I used clippers over scissor technique for his beard and nippers for the perimeters.
Semipermanent Color & Clipper Cut
Princess desired a fresh color. First I cut her hair using a combination of 2 and 1 guards with the clippers and used no guard to fade. Pulp Riot Cupid was then added to her hair and processed for 35 mins. Hair was then shampooed using Mizani. Hair was the brushed and a durag was placed on waves to dry. Other products used include Mizani 25 Miracle Milk and oil.
Shampoo and Blowdry
Brielle wanted to tone her hair. Shades EQ 010T (1oz) and Crystal Clear (1 oz) was combined with 2 oz of processing solution in an applicator bottle and applied to hair. After processing, hair was then shampooed and conditioned using Redkin Blondage. Hair was then blowdried for finish look. Other products used includes Satinwear 04, Big blowout, and Pureology Mousse.
Shampoo and Blowdry
Rachel was up for pampering and received a shampoo and a blowdry. Hair was shampooed and conditioned using Redkin blondage. Diamond oil, Big blowout and satinwear 04 was added to the hair before blowdrying for finished look.
Loc Moneypiece and Curls
Vanessa was my model for my live presentation. She requested a loc money piece! I lightened six of her locs from the front of her head using lightening powder and 20 vol developer. Hair processed for 45 mins and then shampooed using Mizani scalp care. Oil was then added to the hair for retwist. I then used pipe cleaners to curl locs. Here’s hair is currently still in this style until our graduation so her curls stay tight longer.

Who I Am
At a young age, I developed a passion for wanting to make people look and feel their best in the skin they're in. Nothing beats the natural glow of confidence. I thought I owed it to my potential customers to be well rounded in my craft. While going to college to receive my license, it has opened my eyes to the history, importance of procedures and safety, new innovated ways to accomplish a look, and the numerous hours behind the hard work and determination it takes to excel in the world of cosmetology. It may not be easy but it's rewarding to create the exact look a client/guest is going for and making sure they are delighted with the results. It's my goal to be able to accommodate any guest with any service they desire. In all, I strive to be the best at what I do while being the 'Jane' of all trades.
